I AM THE EPICENTER OF THE WORLD


I look confidently at the outside. Verticality and hierarchy constitute my being in the body. What happens if I step out of my centrality and push beyond myself?

In Besides Me, the body is a bearer of stories and future possibilities. Its attitude reveals a constantly alive contradiction: the coexistence of a centripetal force striving for unity, building a shield that protects us from relationships, and a centrifugal force striving for fragmentation, breaking habits and physical structures to enter into connection with something outside oneself.

In Besides Me, the path from a unified body to a rhizomatic body is explored. A body that emerges from the desire to become something other than itself, dismantling its unity and verticality of man-tree to achieve the horizontality of the rhizome, composed of the sum of interdependent individual parts and their surrounding space.

From a centered body to an evaporated body, without organs, horizontal and non-hierarchical. This journey between center and unknown allows one to find something that is beyond-me and beyond-myself: beyond-me, understood as everything I am not but can become; beyond-myself, understood as a reality that exists outside my boundaries and in which I can engage in dialogue with countless other presences.

The lights and light design shape the scene, becoming material presences in the space, particularly through the use of laser lights which, in the succession of the choreographic score, create a digital architecture within which the dancer moves.
